About this expansion

Neuroshima Hex! 3.0: Mephisto is an official expansion for Neuroshima Hex! for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 30 minutes. It introduces a terrifying threat born from the anomalies of radioactive bomb craters.

Mephisto is a giant maggot, a unique synthesis of flesh and steel that can threaten even well-armed expeditionary forces. Its territory may appear to offer a shortcut or valuable resources, but those who enter often find only a burial ground waiting for them.

Facing Mephisto means entering a struggle under the enemy’s rules. Traps and deceptions await trespassers, turning the confrontation into something far more dangerous than a simple battle against one creature. The experience is described as fighting an entire army rather than a single monster.

The expansion’s setting draws on the post-apocalyptic consequences of radioactive devastation. Anomalies emerging from bomb craters have created monstrosities beyond the imagination of pre-war scientists, with Mephisto standing among the most formidable of them.

Neuroshima Hex! Mephisto has an unusual history. It began as a fan-created army expansion for Neuroshima Hex!, before Portal Games announced in 2013 that it had developed Mephisto as an official expansion for release.

For players drawn to hostile environments, monstrous opponents, and dangerous deception, Mephisto adds a distinctive new threat to the Neuroshima Hex! universe. Its radioactive crater setting and unusual origin make it a notable addition to the game’s expanding world.
