About this board game
Night of Man is a card-driven tactical board game for 1–3 players, with battles designed to take about 60 minutes. Set after an alien invasion of Earth, it puts the squads, heroes, and tanks of Earth’s Militia against an advanced alien force.
The opposing armies feature distinct battlefield threats. Human forces face aliens equipped with enhanced power armor, hover tanks, Mechs, and spider-like robots. The game focuses on tactical decisions as players use cards to activate units and shape the action from one impulse to the next.
- Move units, fire weapons, and launch assaults through card play.
- Use special powers such as explosive rounds and telekinesis.
- Enhance attacks with special cards, including critical hit and bullet storm effects.
- Manage hands, end-turn cards, and initiative to influence the next turn.
At the start of each turn, players draw up to a four-card hand. During each impulse, they may play a card—sometimes more than one—to activate units and use their abilities. The turn continues until three end-turn cards have been drawn, creating a changing rhythm as players decide when to commit their available options.
After the turn ends, each player chooses one card to keep, while administrative markers are removed from the board and new hands are dealt. Players then use the new hand, or the card retained from the previous turn, to bid for initiative in the upcoming turn.
Night of Man includes numerous scenarios for ready-to-play battles, along with a point system for assembling custom engagements quickly. That combination supports both structured scenarios and flexible battles built around the forces and tactical challenges players want to explore.
