About this board game

Night of the Ninja is a fast-paced social deduction game for 4–11 players, with a typical play time of 30 minutes. Each round can unfold in as little as 5 minutes as rival ninja Houses compete through secrets, deception, and midnight assassination.

At the start of each round, players draft Ninja cards and choose a role. A Spy or Fortune Teller can gain valuable information, while a Shinobi or Blind Assassin can eliminate an opponent. No role is strictly better than another, so success depends on reading the table, deciding whom to trust, and using your abilities at the right moment.

Your mission is to defeat a rival House—but identifying that House is the first challenge. The deadliest cards are also the last to be played, creating tense decisions as players conceal their loyalties and search for clues. Because the game is team-based, you can still earn Honor even after you are eliminated, provided your House prevails.

  • Supports 4–11 players
  • Individual rounds can play out within 5 minutes
  • Draft Ninja cards and use roles focused on information or assassination
  • Compete for Honor through team-based social deduction

Created by Justin Gary, designer of Ascension and Shards of Infinity, Night of the Ninja is designed for everyone from novice gamers to experienced social deduction enthusiasts. Its distinctive visual identity comes from Ben Charman’s papercraft artwork, which was intricately hand-cut and photographed.

The game includes 33 Ninja cards, 11 House cards, 11 Player standees, and 35 Honor tokens—everything needed for games of up to eleven players.
