About this board game
Nightfighter: Air Warfare in the Night Skies of World War Two is a 1–2 player board game that recreates WWII night air combat, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Using a blind play system, an umpire controls the attacking forces while the defending player must find, fix, and destroy incoming bombers.
The game follows the development of night-fighting aircraft and technology across more than 40 scenarios. It covers the cat’s-eye intercepts of the London night blitz, Mosquito intruder operations, and Pacific actions featuring F4U-2 and P-61A Black Widow fighters against Japanese bomber threats.
- Radar-guided interception, searchlights, airborne radar, and electronic countermeasures
- Special weapons including Schräge Musik
- Scenarios focused on Wild Boar and Tame Boar tactics, also known as Wilde Sau and Zahme Sau
- More than 50 fighter and bomber variants, from early Blenheim and Ju88 interceptors to the Mosquito and He219
Nightfighter also includes rarer aircraft such as the Ta154, Me262B-1a, and Japanese J1N1 Gekko. Its scenarios portray the changing tools and tactics of night warfare, from early interception methods to advanced airborne radar and electronic warfare.
Designed and illustrated by Lee Brimmicombe-Wood, with aircraft art by Ian Wedge, Nightfighter offers a fast-playing view of the night hunters of the sky. Individual scenarios can be completed in approximately 30–45 minutes, making each mission a focused contest of detection, interception, and destruction.
