About this board game
Nine Worlds is an area-control game for 2–6 players, with play lasting about 90 minutes. Set across the nine worlds of Norse and Anglo-Germanic myth, it challenges players to compete for influence across a mythic battleground.
Players spend action points to build and adjust their presence throughout the worlds. Armies can be added, removed, or moved between worlds, while some can be banished to Helheim. Every decision shapes the balance of power and affects which worlds remain contested.
Controlling a world does more than mark territory. It gives access to that world’s world powers, which players can use in their efforts to win the game. This makes control a valuable objective, while also creating reasons to challenge an opponent’s position.
- Add or remove armies in the nine worlds.
- Move armies between worlds.
- Banish armies to Helheim.
- Compete for control or dispute control of as many worlds as possible.
Victory in Nine Worlds relates to the number of armies players have across the nine worlds, together with how many worlds they control or dispute control of. Players must therefore weigh their army presence against the struggle for territory, deciding where to commit their available actions.
With its focus on shifting armies, contested territories, and powers gained through control, Nine Worlds presents a direct battle for dominance across a legendary setting. The 2016 game offers a focused area-control experience in which every world can contribute to the final result.
