About this board game
Nine Years: The War of the Grand Alliance 1688-1697 is a two-player historical game with an approximately 225-minute play time, covering the War of the Grand Alliance and the dramatic events surrounding the Glorious Revolution.
In 1688, Louis XIV launched a war of aggression that would become known as the Nine Years’ War or the War of the Grand Alliance. At the same time, William III, Prince of Orange, crossed the Channel to invade England with the support of influential British political and religious leaders, deposing his father-in-law, King James II, in the Glorious Revolution.
This stand-alone game uses the No Peace Without Spain system, allowing players to recreate one of the decisive moments in European history. The Grand Alliance scenario covers the conflict from 1688 to 1699 and places the era’s major powers at the center of a struggle that would reshape the balance of power.
