About this board game
Ninja All-Stars is a 2–4-player league and campaign-style miniatures game with 90-minute play sessions, in which rival ninja clans compete for honor and glory in the annual ninja games.
Players assemble a team of ninjas, either using a pre-rolled group or purchasing a team with points, then battle over objectives on a moonlit battleground. Games can stand alone as one-off scenarios, or form part of a league in which ninjas gain experience, develop skills, and advance across multiple contests.
Each ninja clan is associated with one of six elements, and those elements provide different bonuses during play. The dice system is also built around the elemental structure, using a rock-paper-scissors-style dice elimination mechanic for combat, searching, and special abilities.
- Elemental clans: Different elements offer distinct in-game bonuses.
- Dice elimination: Resolve contests by eliminating dice rather than simply comparing swords and shields.
- Flexible combat results: The winner chooses from different outcomes based on the dice that remain.
- Knockouts, not deaths: Defeated ninjas rest and recover in their team’s dojo, and may eventually return to the board.
- League or one-off play: Use advancement rules for an ongoing campaign or play individual scenarios.
The game features whimsical chibi-style miniatures from the Soda Pop Miniatures team, combining distinctive sculpted characters with playful gameplay. Its contents include enough miniatures for four teams, each representing a different element, along with the game board and numerous tokens for game effects.
With team building, objective-based battles, elemental bonuses, and ninja development, Ninja All-Stars offers a colorful competition that can grow from a single game into a continuing league.
