About this board game
Ninja Dice is a push-your-luck dice game for 2–5 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. In this Japanese-themed contest, players compete to become the greatest ninja while scoring points by overcoming houses and escaping with stolen treasure.
Each turn begins with House dice, which create a unique combination of challenges. These can include Locked areas, Guards, and nosy Residents. The active player then rolls Skill dice, seeking three different ways to deal with those obstacles: Stealth skills, Fighting skills, and Lock picking.
Special Fortune faces can boost dice, but only when the dice being boosted occupy specific positions on the table. This positional Fortune system adds a distinctive twist to the usual push-your-luck format, making both the roll and the arrangement of the dice important.
- Roll House dice to reveal the challenges in a new house.
- Use Skill dice for stealth, fighting, and lock picking.
- Choose whether to escape with your stolen treasure or risk rolling again.
- Watch for rival ninjas and their Threat dice.
Beat the challenges to score points and escape. If you fail, you may still leave with what you have stolen, or remain and attempt another roll. However, every re-roll increases the threat from the other ninjas, who can use Threat dice to shoot the active ninja—and one another—in order to steal treasure.
Constant interaction keeps every player alert, even when it is not their turn. Play continues through three rounds of increasing difficulty, and the player with the highest score wins. Released in 2013, Ninja Dice combines quick dice decisions, escalating danger, and direct competition in a compact game of ninja daring.
