NMBR 9

About this board game

NMBR 9 is a tile-stacking game for 1-4 players that takes about 20 minutes to play. Players build individual arrangements from numbered tiles, aiming to place tiles above the ground floor so their numbers can score.

The game includes 20 cards numbered 0-9 twice, along with 80 number tiles. Each tile is made from squares arranged in a particular shape. After the deck is shuffled, cards are revealed one at a time, and every player takes the matching tile for their own construction.

• Place each new tile beside another tile on the same level, with at least one side of a square touching.
• Build upward by placing a tile on two or more tiles below it.
• Prevent overhangs, while ensuring a tile on a higher level covers parts of at least two supporting tiles.

These placement rules turn every draw into a building decision. A tile may be worth little or nothing on the lower levels, but the same number becomes more valuable when it is supported higher in the structure.

Once all cards have been revealed and tiles placed, players calculate their scores. Tiles on the bottom, or 0th, level score 0 points. A tile on the 1st level scores its printed number, while a tile on the 2nd level scores twice that number; tiles on higher levels multiply their number by the level they occupy.

With every player using the same sequence of revealed numbers, NMBR 9 focuses on how each person arranges and stacks their tiles. The player with the highest final score wins.
