Norsaga

About this board game

Norsaga is a 2–4 player puzzle battle card game with a 30-minute play time, in which Viking poets compete to describe their personal saga and heroic ancestry.

Each player receives a random saga card and places it face-up in the center of the table. Six inheritance markers in the appropriate colors are set on the saga’s colored icons, while every player begins with four hero cards. The goal is to build a family tree containing all the heroic traits required to complete your saga.

On your turn, first Catch Your Breath by drawing until you have four cards. You may then Embellish Your Story by using an embellishment for which you qualify, based on the color of your youngest hero in play. Finally, Continue the Tale by playing one card from your hand onto your family tree.

Each family tree has seven spaces representing a heroic lineage. Hero cards feature a dominant trait and, in most cases, a recessive trait. When a trait matches one required by your saga, its inheritance marker can be placed on that trait. Place all of your markers first, and you win.

Norsaga combines hand management, puzzle-like placement, and tactical timing as players develop their lineages. With inherited tricks to use and a personal saga to complete, every family tree becomes part of a race to establish the most heroic ancestry.
