About this board game

Notebook Nations is a 4X strategy game for 1–4 players, with a listed play time of 150 minutes, in which you explore, expand, exploit resources, and fight to develop your nation.

Created for players who want a 4X experience over lunch as well as those looking for a gateway into the genre, the game combines exploration, nation building, resource use, and conflict. You will need to make strategic choices while pursuing the victory path that best suits your nation.

At setup, each player selects a Nation, a map, and a starting zone. Players then choose initiative bonuses to determine turn order, making the order of play an important part of each round.

On your turn, gain your income, move, and act. Use your Avatar’s Source powers, activate building tiles to grow your settlements and military, and command your units in fights with neighboring players.

• Science VP: Prioritize research to increase your science score.
• Culture VP: Construct buildings that raise your culture score.
• Military VP: Raise and command troops to conquer an opponent’s town hall.

Players must also decide how aggressively to pursue expansion and conflict. In Notebook Nations, you may work to exterminate other players—or focus on avoiding extermination yourself—while developing a route to the selected number of victory points.

With its distinct science, culture, and military goals, Notebook Nations offers several ways to shape your nation and compete across the map. Choose your priorities, manage your actions, and adapt your plans as neighboring nations grow.
