About this board game
Objective Moscow: The Death of Soviet Communism is a 1–3-player land, sea, and air strategy game about a hypothetical invasion of the former U.S.S.R., with an average play time of 360 minutes. Released in 1978, it presents a modern-era “World War” set in the late 1970s and at the end of the 20th century.
The enormous map stretches from Paris and Turkey through Iraq and Central Asia, reaching China as far south as Peking, as well as Japan, Korea, and Alaska. Units representing more than 30 nations take part in the conflict, creating a broad international setting for campaigns across land, sea, and air.
Several hypothetical scenarios are included, offering different paths into the confrontation. These include a NATO counteroffensive following a Soviet invasion of Western Europe, a Chinese invasion of Siberia, and an Iranian campaign of expansion in the Middle East.
Later scenarios imagine an alliance of the USA, a United Europe, Iran, China, and other countries joining together to conquer the Soviet Union. This range of situations gives Objective Moscow a variety of large-scale modern conflicts to explore.
