Off the Dead: Chapitre 1 – Morts à Venice Beach is a cooperative zombie-survival board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 45 minutes. Set in a world ravaged by a deadly virus, it challenges survivors to withstand hordes of undead while preserving as many human players as possible.

The survivors must search rubble, find useful items, organize their defense, and eliminate every zombie drawn from the deck. Cooperation is essential, but individual strategy also matters: players need to decide when to attack, when to search, and when to give an item to another survivor.

Each turn follows a tense sequence of actions and escalating danger:

• Take a first action by attacking a zombie, searching for an item, or giving an item to another player.
• Resolve the zombie action as the undead are generated, advance, and infect players.
• Take a second action.
• Advance the infection counter, with a survivor out after four steps.

Attacks are resolved with a die roll modified by the weapon being used. Infection is a constant threat: once a companion is lost, they may join the enemy as a zombified survivor, making every decision more consequential.

Inspired by the great genre films, Off the Dead combines cooperation, suspense, and individual strategy in a deliberately crazy zombie atmosphere. The box includes 87 cards, including survivors, rubble, zombies, and zombified survivors, along with infection tokens, game aids, a die, and the rulebook.
