Okko Chronicles: Cycle of Water – Quest into Darkness is a standalone adventure game for 2–5 players, with sessions lasting about 120 minutes. Set in a dark and fantastic version of medieval Japan, it follows the demon hunter Okko and his companions through the war-torn Pajan Empire.

Okko, the ronin monster-slayer, travels with Noburo, his loyal Hanyo companion; Noshin, a monk who can communicate with the Kamis; and Tikku, a young fisherman hoping to become a monk. After Tikku asks for help finding his kidnapped sister, the group is drawn into a dangerous quest filled with strange places and supernatural threats.

Players use character cards that present each Hero’s characteristics and talents, alongside Power Cards representing special abilities, secret techniques, and other unique skills. Heroes can also be equipped with Weapon, Armor, and Item cards, allowing their capabilities to be tailored to the situations they encounter.

• Investigate a daimyo’s palace to uncover the terrible Oni hidden among its occupants.
• Face a variety of fearsome supernatural foes, including fickle Elementals.
• Combine martial prowess, ancestral steel, cunning, and special abilities during the hunt.

Developed from the rules used for Guardians Chronicles, Okko Chronicles introduces new mechanics while retaining an accessible foundation. Its distinctive investigation system and equipment choices are designed to immerse players in the universe of the comics and the Pajan Empire.

Whether relying on devastating elemental power or the certainty of ancestral steel, the Heroes must work through the mystery and identify the demon in their midst. Released in 2019, this entry in the Chronicles series offers its own story and rules while remaining part of the same broad game lineage.
