Olé Guacamole

About this board game

Olé Guacamole is a word-association game for 2–8 players, released in 2021, in which players race to find related words while avoiding an expanding collection of forbidden letters.

At the start of each turn, the active player draws a card showing a letter and places it on the table beside the cards already drawn. They then have 12 seconds to say a word thematically linked to the previous player’s word. The answer must not contain any of the letters currently visible on the table.

The challenge grows with every successful turn, because each new card adds another letter to avoid. A word such as “Mexico” can lead to a related answer, but players must still check that it contains none of the displayed letters. If the active player succeeds, play passes to the next person.

• Find a word connected to the previous word.
• Avoid every letter shown on the drawn cards.
• Answer within 12 seconds.
• Take the cards if you fail, then let the next player start over.

When a player cannot provide a valid answer in time, they take all the cards drawn so far. The next player begins a new sequence, giving everyone another chance to build a chain of associations without using the forbidden letters.

The game ends when all cards have been drawn. In Olé Guacamole, having fewer cards is better: the player who has taken the fewest cards wins.
