About this board game

Omertà, el poder de la mafia is a strategic card game for 2–5 players, with an approximate play time of 90 minutes. Set in New York during the 1930s–40s, it places each player at the head of one of five mafia families competing for control.

The families struggle over businesses such as the arms trade, prostitution, and illegal gambling. These businesses are spread across domains in New York’s five neighborhoods: Queens, Manhattan, the Bronx, Staten Island, and Brooklyn.

Each family receives a main goal at the beginning of the game, along with several secondary objectives that can improve its position. The final aim is to meet the requirements of the main goal while completing as many secondary objectives as possible to gain additional Respect points.

• Expand your family with gangsters and soldiers.
• Use money and Respect points to develop your forces.
• Control domains and businesses across five neighborhoods.
• Resolve attacks, defenses, and event-card actions with dice.

Money and Respect allow families to grow their membership, while gangsters and soldiers help control the domains and businesses they possess. Players must balance defending their existing holdings with conquering new domains, making strategic decisions throughout the game.

Chance also plays a role. Attacks, defensive movements, and various requirements on Event cards can call for dice rolls, adding uncertainty to the families’ plans.
