About this board game

Onoda is a solitaire board game for one player, designed to take about 25 minutes, that recreates soldier Hiroo Onoda’s thirty years on Lubang Island. Across six rounds of variable duration, you will face danger, unexpected events, and the constant challenge of surviving in adverse conditions.

Each round, you must obtain enough resources to finish your turn without suffering penalties. You will also undertake a mission, earning honor points if you succeed. These missions and adventures reflect events from the real-life Onoda’s stay, combining tragic moments, comical situations, and an enduring struggle for survival.

Surviving the six rounds is only part of the challenge. You must avoid going insane due to paranoia and prevent death from ill health before you can discover how your story ends.

In Onoda, your final result depends on the honor you accumulate through missions, the comrades you keep alive, and the condition of your squad. If you endure the full ordeal, you may be recognized as a hero—or fade into oblivion.
