About this board game

Operation F.A.U.S.T. is a bluffing and deception board game for 3–8 players, played in about 30 minutes. Set in occupied France during World War II, it casts players as independent art patrons competing to recover Europe’s threatened cultural treasures.

The Einsatzstab Reichsleiter Rosenberg, or ERR, was tasked with plundering cultural valuables, placing priceless works at risk. Against this backdrop, players seek the most prestigious collection while competing to reach $1,000,000 in black market art value.

On each turn, players choose one of multiple possible actions to gain the intelligence needed to recover at-risk masterpieces. Information is crucial, but so is remembering where valuable art resides. Players may use deception to advance their plans, although being caught in a lie can cost them their hard-earned intel.

  • Bluff and misdirect opponents while pursuing valuable art.
  • Gather enough intelligence to acquire works with secret black market values.
  • Manage the risks of forged or “degenerate” art, which is more easily confiscated.
  • Race to assemble the most valuable collection before anyone else.

Every acquisition brings uncertainty: a piece may be genuine, forged, or considered degenerate, and its precise black market value is secret. To win Operation F.A.U.S.T., players must balance risk, cunning, memory, and timing as they attempt to claim the most valuable collection faster than their rivals.
