About this board game

Osmanli Harbi: The Ottoman Fronts – 1914 to 1918 is a two-player World War I strategy game released in 2009, with play lasting approximately 360 minutes. It extends the Der Weltkrieg Series to the Ottoman Empire and covers five separate campaigns across the Ottoman and Balkan fronts.

Players can explore the fighting in the Trans-Caucasus, where Ottoman and Russian forces struggle through three years of warfare in desolate mountain terrain. In the Sinai and Palestine campaign, the Ottoman attempt to seize the Suez Canal is followed by a British advance across the desert toward the Holy Land.

The Mesopotamia scenario traces the British effort to secure the Abadan oil fields before advancing inland toward Baghdad. The Gallipoli campaign recreates the Entente amphibious invasion of the Dardanelles, where difficult terrain and determined Turkish resistance bring the offensive to a standstill.

A fifth scenario covers Greece and the Salonika front. Following Serbia’s imminent collapse, Entente forces occupy the Greek port of Salonika and fight alongside British, French, Serbian, and eventually Greek units against Bulgarian, German, and Austro-Hungarian forces.

  • Five scenarios: Caucasus, Sinai–Palestine, Mesopotamia, Gallipoli, and Greece
  • Four 34-by-22-inch maps and three counter sheets
  • 840 backprinted counters
  • Standard and scenario rulebooks
  • Scale of 20 km per hex and four days per turn
  • Units represented at division and brigade sizes

With broad geographic coverage and distinct historical situations, Osmanli Harbi presents the Ottoman Empire’s major fronts alongside the wider struggle in Greece, Serbia, and Bulgaria.
