OutLawed!

About this board game

OutLawed! is a social bluffing game for 2–5 players that plays in about 30 minutes. In the wild, wild west town of Bandit Bluff, recruits compete to become Sheriff Croc Holliday’s next deputy by helping clean up a troublesome gang of outlaws.

Each player has an identical set of eleven outlaw cards, imagined as animals escaped from a zoo. Over a series of rounds, players take turns playing a card face down and claiming which character they played. The claim can be truthful or an outright lie, making every turn a test of confidence, observation, and timing.

After everyone has played and made a claim, all the characters are revealed. Each player then checks whether their outlaw’s “apprehend if” condition has been met. Successful outlaws are added to that player’s jail pile, while unsuccessful cards return to their owner’s hand.

• Lionel Manesworth can be captured only when you tell the truth.
• The Vixen Twins are nabbed when other players are convinced to play the same card during the round.
• Lawman Croc Holliday catches anybody who is not on the up and up.

As the rounds continue, players must decide when honesty is the safest choice and when a bold bluff could help them capture valuable outlaws. Reading opponents and misleading them are equally important as each recruit tries to build a successful jail pile.

When one player fills their jail, everyone compares the total reward value of their apprehended cards. The player with the most rewards wins the competition and earns the vacant deputy position. With its mix of hidden cards, bluffing, truth-telling, and out-thinking opponents, OutLawed! turns every claim into a potential showdown.
