About this board game
Pacific Fury: Guadalcanal, 1942 is a two-player naval battle game about the struggle for Guadalcanal in 1942, with an expected play time of 120 minutes.
The game uses area movement to represent the campaign at sea. Each player defines task forces in secret, creating a hidden deployment plan before those forces are placed on the map.
- Two-player naval conflict set around Guadalcanal in 1942
- Area movement between the game’s locations
- Hidden task-force definition and placement
- Task forces arranged in boxes numbered from 1 to 7
Task forces are placed in boxes 1 through 7 in incremental order. Each task force is then deployed according to the number shown in its box, making the concealed arrangement of forces a central part of the game’s setup and flow.
The Americans begin the game in control of Guadalcanal. The Japanese player must attempt to wrest control of the island, giving the contest a clear objective and placing the focus on the opposing task-force deployments.
