About this board game

Panzer Corps is a two-player World War II wargame for 1–2 players, with a playing time of approximately 120 minutes. It portrays the battles of El Alamein, Dunkirk, and 3rd Kharkov, while the Japan Wargame Classics edition also includes Operation Compass.

Designed as a complete beer-and-pretzel package, Panzer Corps uses a simple I-go, you-go system. Players take their turns in sequence, creating a direct and accessible framework for these historical battles.

The game’s available battle maps and components vary by edition. The Epoch edition and Command Japan edition provide four map boards: one for El Alamein, one for Dunkerque, and two for Kharkov. They also include one rulebook and a single countersheet.

  • El Alamein
  • Dunkirk
  • 3rd Kharkov
  • Operation Compass, included only in the Japan Wargame Classics edition

The Japan Wargame Classics edition presents the battles in four separate rulebooks, with four-page rules for each game. It includes A3 map sheets for El Alamein, Dunkirk, and Operation Compass, an A2 map sheet for Kharkov, one countersheet, and a 32-page primer guidebook.

The system and El Alamein were designed by Yukihiro Kuroda. Dunkirk was designed by Masaharu Nakano, Kharkov by Hiroyuki Okuyama, and Operation Compass by Takuya Sakamoto. First released in 1982, Panzer Corps offers a focused way for one or two players to explore its set of historical battle scenarios.
