About this board game

Paper Tales is a simultaneous drafting card game for 2–5 players that plays in about 30 minutes. Across four rounds, you will shape a fantastical kingdom, recruit units, construct buildings, and pursue the legend points needed to make history.

Each turn, players simultaneously draft five units before recruiting them into their kingdoms—provided they can pay the required cost. Your selections help define the strengths and opportunities of your realm, from its ability to shine in battle to its potential to generate income and construct dominant buildings.

Every choice also has a time limit. There are only four hiring positions available during the game, while your units grow older with each turn until time takes them away. The age of your heroes therefore becomes an important part of planning as you develop your kingdom through two fantastical centuries of expansion and combat.
