Paperback Adventures: Plothook is a word-heavy board game for 1–2 players, with games lasting around 150 minutes. Released in 2022, it lets you take on exciting adventures alone or with a friend as Plothook the Pirate.

Plothook’s playstyle rewards vocabulary and word length. Barrage cards gain bonuses when you play longer words, giving your word choices a meaningful role during the game.

The character also brings several distinctive abilities to the table. Plothook can drain an enemy’s life, and can copy the effect of an item, effectively using that item twice. These powers add flexibility to your decisions as you play.

Your crew has a useful way to return to the action, too. Crew cards can come back from the fatigue pile, helping define Plothook’s character-specific approach.

Paperback Adventures: Plothook requires at least one character box to play. The core box contains everything else needed for the game, and it also provides storage for bonus content from each character box, although not all content from those boxes fits inside.

That storage makes setting up a new game more convenient. Choose solo play or invite a friend, then explore a pirate-themed Paperback Adventures experience built around words, character abilities, and reusable crew cards.
