About this board game
Park Life: People is a 30-minute card game for 1–4 players about selling goods, adapting to changing weather, and outmaneuvering rival merchants.
In Hawthorn Heath, the weather can change without warning. When conditions shift, customers want different products: umbrellas in the rain, ice cream in the heat, tea and coffee in the cold, kites in the wind, and lanterns in the fog. Read the market carefully and time your sales before your opponents claim the best opportunities.
Park Life: People combines may-follow trick taking with hand management, set collecting, and tableau building. The lowest-value card in the relevant suit wins the trick, but lower cards are worth fewer points at the end. Because every sale drains your supplies, winning also requires discarding extra cards face down.
- Five weather-based suits, numbered from 1 to 7
- Wild cards and set-collecting cards for added strategic options
- Sales that reward both quick profits and careful timing
- Scoring that happens after three rounds, with no card reset between rounds
You can make many small sales and finish early, leaving opponents room for dramatic comebacks. Wait too long, however, and other merchants may build a dependable lead. Choose whether to go deep into one suit or spread your collection across many small-valued cards, using the cards in your hand and the choices of others to shape your plan.
The merchant with the most money after the third round wins. Solo and cooperative modes use set point goals, while the deluxe rulebook also includes rules for playing against an automa. With its rich choices and emphasis on action economy, this weather-driven market offers a more gamer-oriented experience than its similarly themed counterpart.
