About this board game

Phantom Epoch is a fully cooperative tactical combat roleplaying board game for 1–4 players, with missions lasting around 180 minutes. Its persistent, choice-driven campaign spans more than 40 missions and combines science-fiction and fantasy themes.

In a galaxy where the secrets of interstellar travel have been lost, primitive peoples fight over ancient technology while an encroaching threat grows. Players travel across numerous planets and biomes, uncovering the world’s history and discovering the true nature of their enemy.

Every mission presents a completely unique map, objectives, enemies, and challenges. Heavy-stock mission books provide the maps without requiring players to assemble tiles, while HP Tracking Bases keep essential information on the play area with minimal bookkeeping. The game also sets up in about five minutes.

• Create characters from a range of human and alien species combined with diverse classes.
• Develop characters with upgraded equipment, attributes, skills, and branching advanced classes.
• Gather resources between missions to repair and restore your starship headquarters.
• Adapt your strategy to each mission’s distinct layout, objectives, and opposition.

During each round, players choose as few or as many Action cards as they wish, provided their combined value does not exceed their character’s AP value. That total determines turn order, with the lowest total acting first, while adversary actions come from randomly drawn species and class cards.

As the campaign progresses, restored starship facilities improve the party and discoveries reveal new combat knowledge. Phantom Epoch ends with its final story mission, and everyone wins or loses together based on the mission objective and the survival of the team.
