About this board game

Pirate Versus Pirate is a 2–3 player board game with a playing time of about 20 minutes. Three bands of pirates have discovered an island filled with treasure, and each captain must race to claim victory before the rivals can do the same.

There are three ways to win. Retrieve two of the three silver coins, retrieve the single gold coin, or eliminate all enemy pirates. Every game presents a direct contest between treasure hunting and attacks on opposing swashbucklers.

Movement takes place through adjacent triangles rather than the squares or hexagons found in many other games. This unusual layout creates distinctive movement possibilities, including the ability to attack in a circular manner or reach coins that do not appear to be directly along your route.

  • Play with 2–3 players.
  • Play time is approximately 20 minutes.
  • Win by collecting two silver coins, collecting the gold coin, or eliminating all rival pirates.
  • Move through adjacent triangles for unusual approach and attack possibilities.

For a different challenge, Pirate Versus Pirate includes the No Backstabbing variation. This rule option makes it more difficult to attack rival swashbucklers, offering an alternate way to experience the contest among the three pirate bands.

With multiple victory routes and a triangular movement system, the game focuses on fast-moving clashes around a treasure-filled island. Decide whether to pursue the coins or confront enemy pirates as you seek to become the first victorious captain.
