Pirate’s Cove

About this board game

Pirate’s Cove is a pirate adventure board game for 3–5 players, with games lasting about 90 minutes. Across twelve turns, players sail between islands, battle rival buccaneers, plunder valuable bounties, and compete to become the most famed and feared pirate on the high seas.

At the start of each turn, every player secretly chooses one of six destinations. Navigation directions are revealed simultaneously, and arriving at the same island triggers combat. Your ship’s strength and cannon-fire dice determine the outcome as you decide whether to fight for the island or flee to Pirate’s Cove for a small compensation.

Winning battles can earn fame, while island bounties may provide Gold, Treasure, Tavern cards, or additional Fame. Each island offers a different ship component, allowing you to improve your:

• Sails, which determine speed and initiative in combat
• Hull, which controls how much treasure you can carry
• Crew and Cannons, which determine how many combat dice you roll

The Pub offers useful cards, including tall tales that may increase your final fame. At Treasure Island, you can bury treasure from your ship’s hull and convert it into Fame, the game’s ultimate goal.

Danger also comes from the Legendary Pirates. One of five notorious captains, including Blackbeard and the Flying Dutchman, patrols the islands until defeated. Sink one of these powerful ships to gain fame, but expect another Legendary Pirate to appear and continue the threat.

With secret movement, bluffing, dice-driven combat, ship upgrades, and shifting rewards, Pirate’s Cove challenges you to know when to attack, when to retreat, and when to risk everything for greater glory.
