About this board game
Planes is a board game for 2–4 players that takes about 30 minutes to play. Each player takes part in a group trying to get through a crowded airport and reach its plane before takeoff.
The terminal is full of potential obstacles. Other players’ families or groups, along with neutral travelers, create congestion that can slow your progress and keep you from boarding. Every move brings the pressure of getting through the airport in time.
Cards add another layer to the journey. They affect play and can also provide opportunities for bonus scoring, giving players more to consider as they work their way toward the departure gate.
- Players: 2–4
- Play time: approximately 30 minutes
- Setting: a crowded airport terminal
- Key features: cards, bonus scoring, and variable airport maps
Variable airport maps change the layout of the challenge, making each trip through the terminal a distinct push toward the plane. The combination of shifting routes, obstructive travelers, and card effects captures the congestion and urgency of modern air travel.
Released in 2014, Planes is part of AEG’s Destination Fun series. It continues the travel theme established by the acclaimed Trains and Automobiles board games, moving the journey from the rails and roads into the air.
