About this expansion
Planetarium: Primordial is the first expansion for Planetarium, adding two optional modules for 2–4 players with a play time of about 60 minutes. Add Epochs, Frost Line, or both to change how the solar system develops.
With Epochs, the solar system begins with no planets. Instead of moving a Matter token or a Planet, a player may create a Protoplanet. Later, a Proto Evolution card can transform that Protoplanet into a Planet, creating a new route for planetary development.
The first time the Acceleration space is reached, it triggers the Late Heavy Bombardment rather than normal Acceleration. Matter on the evolution track is cleared and redistributed into empty solar system spaces, while comets may appear. These comets can be used as wild matter. The second time Acceleration is reached, it functions normally.
The Frost Line module introduces a boundary between orbits III and IV. It shifts when the Red Dwarf or A-Type star is used, and the base game’s Low, High, and Final Evolution cards are replaced by the expansion’s versions. Planetary evolution now follows heat and cold markers, while heating and cooling planets can provide extra points at the end of the game.
- Epochs: Begin without planets, create Protoplanets, and trigger a Late Heavy Bombardment.
- Frost Line: Add heat, cold, replacement Evolution cards, and a moving boundary between orbits.
- Variable star: Spend victory points to adjust the star’s brightness, moving the Frost Line accordingly.
Planetarium: Primordial expands the base game with alternate planetary development, redistributed matter, comets, and a changing climate boundary.
