About this board game

Plata is a climbing card game for 2–6 players, with games lasting around 40 minutes. Set in an abandoned mine in the ghost town of Silver City, it challenges players to search for Plata—silver—while managing the danger of the Mine’s Curse.

The aim is to win Plata cards, the only cards that score points. Their value is tied to their number: the lower the card, the more points it provides. Every card won can matter, but the most valuable cards are not necessarily the highest ones.

Players must also judge when to leave the mine and go out for the round. The final player to leave faces the Mine’s Curse, which prevents them from scoring any of the points they earned during that round.
