About this board game
Plunder is a fast-paced pirate card game for 2–4 players, with games taking about 45 minutes. Captain your own ship across a changing sea, seeking hidden treasure while facing storms, ghost ships, and the dreaded kraken.
Cards are laid out to create a different map-board in every game, giving Plunder the feel of a board game in a compact card game format. Its setting combines actual history with fantastical adventure, bringing together real nationalities, ports, and ships alongside mermaids and other legendary dangers.
Instead of relying on dice, the game uses a system of strategic randomization. Each card includes a number that can be played to add to different ratings, giving players meaningful choices as they navigate the seas and pursue their plans.
There are multiple paths to victory, so a successful pirate need not follow just one route. Players can choose among several adventurous approaches:
- Plunder other ships while sailing the seas.
- Explore strange coast lands in search of opportunity.
- Trade goods between ports to advance their fortunes.
With its mix of exploration, trading, ship plundering, historical details, and supernatural threats, Plunder presents an accessible pirate escapade for the whole family. The compact card format and no-dice mechanics add variety while keeping the adventure moving from game to game.
