Plus Ultra: The Court of the Emperor Charles V is a board game for 2–4 players that takes about 90 minutes to play. Set in the Spanish Court of the 16th century, it challenges noblemen to compete for the prestigious title of Grandee of Spain.

The game draws its name from Plus Ultra, Latin for “further beyond,” the motto associated with the reign of Charles I of Spain and Charles V of the Holy Roman Empire. His vast domains extended across Europe, America, and Africa, providing the historical setting for ambitious courtly competition.

To advance their claims, players undertake dangerous endeavours in the name and glory of the Crown. They receive help from influential figures of the period, including the Admiral of the Oceanic Sea, a cardinal, viceroy, pirate, conqueror, and even the Emperor himself.

At the start of every round, a selection of cards lets each player choose two of the available characters. Every character’s actions are then resolved according to a precise, previously established turn order known as the order of peers.
