About this board game

POWERUP is a semi-cooperative dungeon-crawler for 1–5 players, with games lasting around 120 minutes. Inspired by classic run-and-gun action on 2D platforms, it combines a science-fiction theme with a distinctive pixel-art aesthetic.

The planet is under attack from the irritating BUGs, creatures from other dimensions that invade homes, steal breakfasts, and defile garden gnomes. Humanity’s defense is THE BLOCK, an outlaw organization dedicated to protecting the planet from these invasions.

Players take the roles of an assault team in the 13th Squadron. Armed with the latest in interdimensional defense technology, they must lead their squadron against wave after wave of BUGs and work to quash the invasion.

POWERUP offers three distinct ways to play:

• Campaign: Play cooperatively through four missions, with each one revealing more of the story.
• Arcade: Configure your own board from thousands of possible scenarios, then battle through successive waves of BUGs.
• Deathmatch: Compete as two rival teams in a potentially lethal game of capture the flag across the board.

Whether you are following the campaign, building an arcade challenge, or facing another team, every mode brings a different take on the invasion. Run, shoot pixels, level up, and power up as the 13th Squadron fights to defend the planet in POWERUP.
