About this board game
Prime Climb is an arithmetic race game for 1–4 players that takes about 45 minutes, challenging players to move two pawns from 0 to 101 exactly.
On each turn, roll two 10-sided dice and apply the values to your two pawns using addition, subtraction, multiplication, or division. The first player to get both pawns into the 101 circle wins, but careful positioning matters: if another player lands on you, you are sent back to the start.
The board’s colorful design makes mathematical relationships easy to see. Each prime number below 10 has its own color: 2 is orange, 3 is green, 5 is blue, and 7 is purple. Prime numbers above 10 are red, while composite numbers combine the colors of their prime factors. For example, 14 is half orange and half purple because it equals 2 × 7.
- Arithmetic movement: Use four basic operations to determine how your pawns advance.
- Prime cards: Landing on red circles lets you collect cards, including helpful effects and troublesome surprises.
- Visual number sense: The color system helps players recognize factors and multiples at a glance.
Prime Climb blends strategy, chance, and creative calculation into a race that can support different levels of mathematical experience. The color coding helps players check multiplication and division, and even lets children who have not yet learned multiplication take part. Released in 2014, it offers a bright, interactive way to explore the power of prime numbers while competing for the center of the board.
