About this board game
Prussia 20: Jena 20 + Eylau 20 is a two-player wargame set featuring two complete games about key battles of the 1806–1807 War of the Fourth Coalition. Each game focuses on a different clash in Central Europe and offers a chance to change the fate of great empires. With an approximately 60-minute play time, it brings two dramatic Napoleonic battles to the table.
Jena 20 2nd Edition covers the October 1806 battles of Jena and Auerstadt, where a stunning French victory shattered the vaunted Prussian army. The Prussians have already been outmaneuvered and must desperately reposition while the French seek to encircle and destroy them.
At Jena, Hohenlohe’s Prussian rear guard must hold off Napoleon’s Grand Armée long enough for Brunswick’s main body to deal with Davout’s lone French corps, which blocks the route to safety. Can the Prussians escape the encirclement, or will Davout’s veteran 3rd Corps stand firm against three times its numbers?
Eylau 20 recreates the confused and indecisive battle of February 1807, fought in some of the most severe weather conditions imaginable. Russian General Levin August von Bennigsen halted his exhausted army at a deserted crossroads village, preparing to face Napoleon’s troops in sub-zero temperatures and almost continuous heavy snow.
For two days, French attacks battered the unyielding Russian lines with little effect. In this terrible “Battle in a Blizzard,” players can determine whether the historical bloody, inconclusive draw remains the likely result—or whether they can achieve a different outcome from the actual commanders.
