About this board game
Quatre Bras 1815: Last Eagles is a Napoleonic battle simulation for 2–4 players, with games lasting about 600 minutes. Released in 2019, it examines the clash at Quatre-Bras, where Wellington’s army arrived at the last minute to counter Ney’s advancing French troops.
Rather than simply recreating the battle, the game focuses on simulating the uncertainty and changing situation faced by the commanders. Hidden units create fog of war, while variable reinforcements leave players asking where the French will attack and when additional forces will arrive.
Several scenarios explore both the historical battle and alternative possibilities. Players can take on the historical Quatre-Bras scenario, use variable reinforcements to consider what might have happened if D’Erlon or Uxbridge had arrived, or try two further what-if situations: Ney’s morning attack and a scenario in which Wellington is already concentrated against Ney.
- Historical Quatre-Bras scenario
- Variable reinforcement scenario
- Ney’s morning attack what-if scenario
- Wellington already concentrated against Ney scenario
At the end of the historical day, the Anglo-Allied forces outnumbered the French and were able to counterattack. This turning point provides the setting for a tense contest shaped by timing, hidden information, and uncertain reinforcements.
Quatre Bras 1815: Last Eagles can also link with Ligny 1815: Last Eagles to create a full campaign experience, with interaction between both battles. The result is a long-form examination of a key Napoleonic confrontation, offering a historical scenario alongside several alternate paths through the battle.
