About this board game

Quoridor is an abstract strategy game for 2–4 players that plays in about 15 minutes. Each player aims to move a pawn to the opposite edge before the others do.

The rules are simple, but every turn creates an important choice. You may either move your pawn or place a wall, using your action to make progress or influence the available routes.

Wall placement is the heart of the challenge. You can hinder an opponent by making their journey more difficult, but you may not completely block them off. At the same time, every wall you place can affect the developing paths around the play area, so your own route must remain a priority.

• Move your pawn toward the opposite edge.
• Place walls to hinder your opponents.
• Keep every opponent from being completely blocked off.

Because players are pursuing the same basic objective, Quoridor turns a straightforward race into a contest of timing and obstruction. A move that advances your pawn may give up an opportunity to slow another player, while a wall can change the route without bringing you any closer to the finish.

First released in 1997, the game offers a compact strategy experience for 2–4 players. Its simple rules make the objective immediately clear, while the interaction between movement and wall placement gives each turn meaningful weight.
