About this board game
Rainbow is a two-player card duel that takes about 15 minutes, challenging players to collect the most cards by forming complete six-card rainbows.
Players take turns adding cards to a shared row. On each turn, you must play at least one card and may play up to three. To play more than one, you must first turn over a card already in the row, alternating between turning over cards and playing cards.
Every card offers a choice. Play it standard, with the visible side facing up, or play it blind, using the side you have not seen. This creates a constant balance between tactical decisions, combination skills, and memory.
- Error: If you play or turn over a card in a colour already displayed, you lose the round.
- Shadow: If you play or turn over a black card, you lose the round.
- Rainbow: If the sixth card completes the row with a colour still missing from the rainbow, you claim all six cards.
When a player makes an error or encounters the shadow, the opponent receives every card in the row. Successfully completing a rainbow instead rewards the player who formed it, making each additional card a tempting but potentially dangerous choice.
The game ends immediately when the deck no longer contains enough cards for a player to refill their hand to three cards. The player with the larger personal pile wins. With its alternating actions and hidden card information, Rainbow rewards careful observation while leaving room for bold plays.
