About this board game

Reavers of Midgard: The Card Game is a Viking contest for 2–6 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. As Viking Captains, players travel to distant lands in search of valuable spoils and a skilled crew.

Every player begins with an identical hand of cards. Each card shows a location where you can travel, creating a shared set of choices for the round. Before play begins, valuable spoils are placed at each destination, and everyone must decide where to go.

Choose a location card from your hand and place it face down. Once all players have made their decisions, reveal the cards at the same time. If you are the only player at a destination, you claim all of the available spoils there.

Competition becomes more complicated when multiple Viking Lords select the same destination. Rather than simply resolving the conflict, the players there must negotiate a fair distribution of the available items. If they cannot reach an agreement, the spoils remain, and all involved players suffer the consequences.

  • Identical hands give every player the same range of destination choices.
  • Face-down selection and simultaneous reveals create uncertainty about rival plans.
  • Uncontested destinations offer valuable rewards.
  • Contested destinations require negotiation and agreement.

Throughout the game, players gather spoils while weighing the rewards of a destination against the possibility that another captain will choose it too. The result is a contest of timing, prediction, and diplomacy, where the best choice may depend on what opponents are likely to do.

At the end of Reavers of Midgard: The Card Game, players total the points from their collected spoils. Whoever scores the most is crowned the Viking Jarl.
