About this board game

Rebel Nox is a tactical team-based card game for 4–6 players, playable in about 30 minutes, where rebels and loyalists fight for control of the capital.

At the start of each round, six locations are placed in the center of the table and each player receives nine cards. Your starting allegiance depends on the cards you were dealt: a rebel card places you on the Rebel team, while players without one begin as Loyalists. Yet trust is never certain, because cards can change hands and allegiances can shift.

The round unfolds like a trick-taking game with important twists. Players compete for locations, whose special rules can change the outcome of each fight and whose influence contributes to victory. The player holding the rebel commander chooses the first location and leads the opening play.

  • Assassins remove the highest card, allowing the second-highest card to win.
  • Flags increase the value of the current location and can strengthen a teammate’s winning play.
  • Infiltrators make cards change hands between the player who played the lowest card and the winner.

These effects create tactical choices at every location. You must judge when to commit strength, help a suspected teammate, increase a location’s value, or disrupt an opponent—while the changing hands make it difficult to know who truly remains on your side.

After all six locations are claimed, players reveal their current teams and collect followers based on their controlled influence. The team with the most influence also receives bonus followers. If a team reaches the required number of followers, it wins; otherwise, another round begins. With varied card distributions and location combinations, Rebel Nox offers constantly changing tactical challenges in the world of Capital Lux.
