About this board game
Reconquista is a solitaire area-movement wargame for 1 player, with a playing time of about 60 minutes, simulating the Christian reconquest of the Iberian Peninsula from the 8th to the 15th centuries.
You take command of the Christian forces, beginning with a small territory in Northern Spain. Purchase armies and cities, expand your position, and work toward defeating the Muslim forces and reconquering Iberia for Christendom. The opposing forces are controlled by the game, creating a focused solo challenge.
Play unfolds through movement across the map, battles, sieges, and random events. These events reflect the instability and outside pressures surrounding the campaign, bringing new complications and opportunities as the reconquest develops.
- Viking raiders and French intervention
- Famine, rebellions, and religious strife
- Christian Military Orders and other random events
The White Dog Games edition includes cleaned-up rules and additional optional rules, including alternative random event tables. It also contains a historical scenario for every one of the game’s 20 turns, offering different historical starting points and perspectives on the long campaign.
Winner of the wargame category in the 2014 solitaire print-and-play contest, Reconquista was released as a physical board game by White Dog Games in early 2015. The game includes one map, 100 counters in three different sizes, and the rules.
