About this board game
Red North is a combative card game of hidden information and bluffing for 2–4 players, designed to play in about 45 minutes. Players compete to conquer Northern Outposts by matching them with raiding parties from corresponding warrior factions.
Each player manages a hidden hand of warriors while deciding when to commit their forces. Deploying more raiders, jarls, and heroes can help secure an outpost, but it also reveals which battles you are pursuing and gives opponents valuable information about your strategy.
Resources are scarce, so every deployment carries a cost. You must balance the need to contest outposts now with the importance of preserving a strong enough party for the final Ragnarok round, when the Norse Gods may tip the scales.
- Hidden information and bluffing create tense strategic decisions.
- Compete for control of outposts tied to different factions of warriors.
- Choose when to commit and when to bow out of a contested battle.
- Face the unpredictable influence of eight unique gods during Ragnarok.
Early victories may bring glory, but revealing too much can leave your plans exposed. Outsmarting your opponents means judging their intentions, concealing your own, and knowing when a seemingly promising fight is not worth the cost.
This new edition of Red North, originally published as Saer by La Mame Games in 2024, features a remixed set of outpost abilities. Some outposts now provide tokens that can be used even when you do not own the outpost, adding another layer of tactical possibility to the struggle for control.
