About this board game
[redacted] is a 2014 spycraft and bluffing game for 2–6 players, with sessions lasting around 45 minutes. Set during the golden age of the Cold War, it places rival spies inside an embassy during the ambassador’s annual reception.
Players move from room to room, searching for files and attempting to escape in a helicopter. However, the mission is not simply about getting in and getting out: agents can also work to ensure that the other side’s pilots have a very bad day.
Interaction is at the heart of the experience. As spies encounter one another, they may try to interrogate, steal, or injure their opponents whenever the opportunity arises. Every meeting can change the course of the operation, making caution and deception essential.
- Cold War setting: A reception at an important embassy provides the stage for espionage and betrayal.
- Hidden interaction: A double-blind mechanism keeps uncertainty high during encounters.
- Multiple objectives: Recover files, escape by helicopter, or disrupt the opposing side’s pilots.
- Bluffing and deduction: Read the situation carefully while concealing your own intentions.
Because the double-blind interaction mechanism never truly allows the tension to fade, even a seemingly simple move can carry risk. A skilled agent must do more than see through a bluff; they must judge when to act, whom to trust, and how far to push an operation.
With its mix of infiltration, intrigue, betrayal, and direct confrontation, [redacted] creates a suspenseful contest of rival spies in a stylish Cold War setting.
