About this board game

Regatta is a 20-minute racing game for 2–4 players in which each player guides a wooden ship around two buoys and across the finish line.

Each turn, you play one of the five movement cards in your hand to scoot your boat across the waves. The goal is straightforward: circle both buoys and then cross the finish line before anyone else. Every card play helps determine how your ship moves through the race, making the route to victory clear and easy to follow.

Regatta offers an accessible way to enjoy a nautical competition, with a compact objective that keeps the action focused. Players are always working toward the same finish: completing the course and reaching the line first.

The game also includes an additional, slightly more complicated way to play. This provides a fuller challenge for groups looking to move beyond the basic version, while keeping the central boat race at the heart of the experience.

The designers self-published 1,000 copies of Regatta in 2008 before Gigamic picked up the game for wider distribution. Released in 2010, it presents a concise racing experience built around movement cards, wooden ships, buoys, and a race to the finish.
