Renature

About this board game

Renature is a majority game for 2–4 players, with an approximately 60-minute play time, in which players restore a valley using animal dominoes and valuable plant pieces.

On each turn, place one of the three dominoes in your hand onto two brook spaces. The domino must connect to another domino showing the same animal. When it borders a free space beside a brown area, you may add a plant: a tuft of turf, bush, pine, or oak.

Each plant has a different value, from 1 for turf to 4 for oaks. After placing a plant, score it along with every existing plant in that brown area whose value is the same or lower. This creates opportunities to build your score while shaping the growing valley.

• Domino placement: Match animal motifs while expanding the network across the valley board.
• Plant values: Use turf, bushes, pines, and oaks to influence area majorities.
• Majority scoring: When dominoes frame a brown area, the highest and second-highest plant totals claim its printed rewards.
• Clouds: Buy back plants from the board, take another turn, or appoint a new joker animal.

Neutral plant pieces count as their own color rather than helping the player who placed them. Tied colors are treated as absent from the area, making every majority contest especially tense. The player who frames an area also takes its flower token for additional end-game points.

Players draw a replacement domino at the end of each turn. Once everyone has run out of dominoes, Renature concludes with final scoring, including the points provided by collected flower tokens.
