About this board game

Resist! is a 2022 solo card-driven game for one player, with sessions lasting about 40 minutes. Set in Spain after the Spanish Civil War, it places you in command of the Maquis, resistance groups continuing the armed struggle against Franco’s regime.

Across a series of rounds, you undertake increasingly difficult missions. Completing missions earns the points you need to win, but failing to defeat missions and enemies may bring the resistance to an end. After each round, you must choose whether to stop while you can or risk everything on another mission.

At the start of the game, you assemble a team of twelve Maquis represented by a deck of cards. The central tension comes from deciding when to keep your Maquis concealed and when to reveal them to unlock their full potential. Revealed Maquis are removed from your deck, so using their strength now may leave you with fewer options later.

• Play as the Spanish Maquis in a solitaire resistance campaign.
• Take on missions that become increasingly difficult.
• Balance immediate threats against the need to preserve your deck.
• Choose whether to end the resistance or risk another round.

Although Resist! includes minor deck-building elements, its core is a deck-destruction challenge. You must manage a limited team, weighing the benefits of revealing powerful Maquis against the danger of removing them from future play. Every decision shapes how long your resistance can continue.
