About this expansion
Revive: Call of the Abyss is a 2023 expansion for 1–4 players, with play sessions of about 120 minutes. It introduces the mysterious Scyphoz, a life form that inhabits giant lakes formed by glacial meltwater.
Build near the lakes to gain devotion points, then spend that devotion to access powerful Scyphoz cards. The expansion also gives the switch action a new purpose: initiate journeys by sending citizens on missions to earn additional devotion.
Alongside the new lake-focused systems, Call of the Abyss adds a broad range of content for Revive. The expansion includes:
- 16 Scyphoz cards and 18 journey cards
- 3 lakes and a devotion track
- 15 new machine tokens and 9 slot modules
- 9 new citizen cards
- 4 new tribes with unique rules, abilities, and technologies
The four new tribe boards feature only an advanced side, giving each faction a distinct way to interact with the expansion. The Kairos shift between day and night modes, while the Gib’warks use gadgets to strengthen their switch actions and can reset their switch.
The Ostarius construct gates that can help or hinder other players, potentially blocking parts of the board. The Cordycephians leech from opponents by using their cards, buildings, and technologies, requiring them to adapt to the tribes they face.
Except for the Cordycephians tribe, all Call of the Abyss content is compatible with solo play. With its devotion track, journeys, lakes, and asymmetric tribes, Revive: Call of the Abyss expands the game with new objectives and strikingly different approaches to play.
