About this board game
Revolution! is a secret-bidding and bluffing board game for 3–4 players, with a complete game taking about 60 minutes. Players compete for victory points by influencing key figures, collecting resources, and controlling territories.
Each round, players secretly bid against one another using Gold, Blackmail, and Force tokens. You may try to bribe the priest, threaten the innkeeper, or blackmail the printer, but every bid carries risk: opponents can counter your plans, forcing you to adapt and decide where to commit your influence.
Winning characters can provide victory points, control of territories, or additional tokens for future bidding. Territories such as the tavern, fortress, harbor, and plantation are worth victory points at the end of the game, making control of the board an important part of your overall strategy.
- Secret bidding: Keep your choices hidden while competing for influential characters.
- Bluff and counter-bluff: Read your opponents and choose when to push forward or back away.
- Resource gathering: Collect Gold, Blackmail, and Force tokens to strengthen later bids.
- Visible control: Colorful wooden blocks show who controls each colonial-themed territory.
Knowing when to fight for points and when to let opponents battle each other is central to victory. A player who spends too freely may struggle in the next round, while a well-timed bid can secure both immediate advantages and valuable future resources.
Private bids are supported by colorful cardstock shields that also provide a handy rules reference during the auction. With rules that can be taught in minutes and strategies that change from game to game, Revolution! delivers a compact contest of hidden intentions, tactical choices, and surprise. The player with the most victory points at the end wins.
