Rise of the Wastelands

About this board game

Rise of the Wastelands is a 1–4 player board game with an approximately 120-minute play time, set in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world where survivors struggle to rebuild after a devastating meteor impact.

Resources in the flourishing ruined cities are running low, forcing factions to venture into the dangerous Wastelands. Lead one of four factions, each with unique abilities, and explore a dynamically generated map filled with unknown dangers and ruined cities waiting to be salvaged.

Beginning from your capital, establish outposts and recycle materials to generate the resources your society needs. Use those resources to construct buildings and units, upgrade your technology, and gain a strategic advantage over rival factions. As your faction develops, pursue changing achievements that can help you expand your influence.

There are no rounds or phases in Rise of the Wastelands. Players take turns consecutively, following this sequence:

1. Allocate influence.
2. Perform actions.
3. Claim achievements.
4. Reset action points.

The game ends after a player claims their fifth achievement at the end of their turn, after which every other player receives one final turn. The goal is to spread at least five influence tokens among the other players. If only one player achieves this, they win; if multiple players do, the player who has given away more influence tokens is victorious.

With scarce resources, evolving societies, exploration, construction, and direct competition, Rise of the Wastelands challenges players to grow quickly and become the dominant faction over the devastated lands and nearby societies.
